Hi, everyone. I'm new to Bitcoin and completely lost. My sister repaid some money that She borrowed from me only she chose to to it through a BITCOIN app. I've tried everything to cash it out. I've had no luck with it. I've tried the bitcoin atms, cashing out through cash app and tried setting up a coinbase account to cash it out. I'm completely lost. I'd be happy to pay someone for advice/help in cashing it out
Thanks

You didn’t specify why exactly you could not manage to sell it through the bitcoin ATM, nor your Coinbase account. What app are you using to manage your bitcoins?

Presumably, you trust your sister, so if she paid you through bitcoin, she should be able to help you out with a more direct dialogue.

Note: You should not pay for any advice here, and beware of direct PMs that may try to lure you to provide information that could lead you to losing your bitcoins.

What he was trying to say is that look for a peer to peer exchange (an exchange that allows direct trading between 2 people) so that you can sell your bitcoins in exchange for fiat (your country's currency money). One of the examples of a peer to peer exchange is Localbitcoin.com

Can you specify on what Bitcoin app you've been talking on? Its impossible for you not to make out some conversion from bitcoin to fiat.

So you should be more specific or able to clarify out on what wallet on where those coins been stored? So that people would really have much idea on where they do start
on giving out advices not on just keep on guessing.

Here's some link regarding about basic cash outing your bitcoin: https://www.bitdegree.org/crypto/tutorials/how-to-cash-out-bitcoin

Where do you live? Maybe we can give you some advice if you can give us an idea of where do you live.

If it's already on Coinbase read this "How long does a sell or withdrawal take to complete?"

Or you can't still withdraw but you can transfer the Bitcoin to another exchange you can try Binance they also have the option to withdraw using their P2P they mostly have a bank to bank option or some offer to withdraw through apps.

The only problem is you will need to be KYC verified before you able to use their P2P or you can try their service to withdraw your Bitcoins to the debit card or without using P2P you can also withdraw them instantly with debit/credit card read this for guidelines below.

Can you post the link to the supposed app? That will make it easier to help you, assuming you weren't scammed in some way.

My suggestion is to hold your bitcoin and do not sell it right now because bitcoin can increase so high without you can imagine how high of that.

Maybe you can explain the details such as where you live or else to advise you about what you need to do. But if you can not withdraw that bitcoin, you can hold it for a while, as I suggest.

It would be prudent for OP to at least learn the basics of the basics of Bitcoin, how to use a wallet, etc. so they know how to send or sell when they find themselves in a need to do so. And make sure no one scammed them when sending them the promised bitcoins in the first place.

With the increasing bitcoin price now, holding for more will be better because he says he can not do anything to cash out the bitcoin. So the suggestion will be better for him while he can still search for the other way to cash out his bitcoin. I am sure he will figure out how to cash out his bitcoin someday while he still has the bitcoin waiting for the next high price.

Why don't you ask your sister btw? Like dmr said, looks like your sister is more familiar with Bitcoin than you, and it is very likely that you two live in the same country. Even if that's not the case, there's a high chance that your sister knows where to buy and sell Bitcoin.

I'd rather trust the advice of my sister instead of asking a complete stranger on the forum to be honest.
