I was already called a naysayer several times for trying to raise that same awareness you say it's needed to people who are distributing Bitcoins freely without doing proper research or risk assessment.
Pathetic indeed. People almost beg to be scammed around here.
And this is one reason why the exchanges are taking a risk if they accept scanned documents to verify identities. It's not hard to create far more authentic-looking documents than that one and there's every reason to believe that plenty of people are trying to operate non-conventional financial service accounts using fake identities.
