i started to use electrum, importing private keys from a multibit classic account. as such i can see my btc Both in the old multibit interface as on electrum. some days ago a hacker tried to take out my coins using multibit. indicating that my multibit private keys are corrupted. but the transaction stuck, as indicated by a little square instead.of the usual confirmation sign.  the coins disappeared from multibit but not from Electrum... i thought best thing would be to save the btc from the electrum wallet in a new wallet, but on trying that electrum stalls... windows error. what shoud i do next ? i ordered a hardware wallet, but can i still leave the coins on the electrum wallet for now? if not, how to get the electrum to work again? thanks.

Can you post your addresses here? Or the TXid of the bitcoin the hacker's transaction.

For good practice, keep your keys in one software, otherwise the number of vulnerabilities tot he software (especially en that isn'r being maintained anymore - multibit) is going to increase.

(You can pm the transaction and address information to me if you feel it may cause more of an issue posting them here, in case the hacker is a guest on this forum for example and stumbles across your info and tries to stoke the TX fee).

thanks for replying fast.

in the meantime I found out how to reload the blockchain in multibit and the fake transaction disappeared from the interface  + btc balance is correct.
i'm letting go the idea to make another software wallet and wait for the hardware device.
Thanks again.

What is the error message? Are you using an older version of windows like Win7 or Win8? and is it an error about Python35.dll like this?

If so, go back to using v2.9.3 available from here: https://download.electrum.org/2.9.3/

v3 doesn't play nice with older versions of Electrum.

or is it a completely different error message?

That error is only on startup as that's when python35.dll gets called.
Op, what point does the wallet stall? Is it when you hit "new/restore", when you boot it or when you put in something (like a wallet name or seed creation).

Still downgrading should fix this issue as I assume it's probably either the DLL error or an exception error.

You'll probably want to move those coins unless these sorts of corrupt wallet imports are quite native to multibit?
Also, if you try getting electrum to work, you'll be able to use that with your hardware wallet (unless you opt for a chrome plugin most hardware wallets use).
