Altcoin API

Hi,

I would like to create a website, and user can deposit and withdraw our altcoin. Not sure what the infrastructure of this web site will be.
My understanding is we need to run a node on the web site server and use API to generate address, sign transactions and send transations. If this is correct, is there any example I can refer to use these APIs?
