When I do say that people will find a way , I do mean it ! This article right here took me bamboozled lol apparently people are using bitcoin mining to not only earn profits but to also heat up their house !!! Which can easily help their other businesses like :

Growing strawberries
Perfect place for Chickens !!!

What else ??
Goodness this is just the starting people have started something that I would call : Sustainable Mining
It might not go as far as to be an extension of renewable sources of energy but at the same time it does reduce the cost of their business+cost of heating. In a country like Russia or Ukraine , the cost of heating is extremely high , around 100$ a month on good days and that too is very variable. Considering you are just living in a 1bhk. Therefore this can not only help you eradicate that cost but it would also help you grow non seasonal vegetables, generally you do have to invest in other things if you want to do something like that but now ! People have started being this innovative! This is extremely good. What do you think about this ?

Growing strawberries
Perfect place for Chickens !!!
Don't strawberries need cold weather to grow, I find that it will damage the crop if it is heated because that is how in my country the strawberries are being farmed, in the mountains where the temperature is low. I get the chicken part but you will have to spend a lot of money for ventilation to redirect the heat of the mining rig towards the coop because the alternative of putting it near the coop is not viable as chickens are very noisy farm animals and not to mention the chickenshit that they produce.

One thing - 100$ in firewood will heat your home as good as 600$ in electrity. So your mining set should generate at least 500$ profit to compensate the difference.

But yea. Using heat as precious resource instead of as a waste is a well-known approach.

I hope you don't mean that chickens will be walking next to antminers Smiley Heat can be easily transferred from mining room to chicken room, no need to keep mining equipment in cage with chickens Smiley

No. they are a "summer" crop, they need lots of water, heat and sunlight.

This makes perfect sense to use the by product of mining - Heat. By doing so it reduces
the overall cost of mining itself, very smart.

It seems like the idea is a popular one, here is a thread from last week.

Lowering the electricity bill by mining cryptocurrency

Damn, where do you live. That must be some weird strawberries. Are we talking about the same strawberries?
I have strawberries in my back yard and they ain't growing when it's cold(it's the end of the winter in my country).
Anyway, heat can be used for many purposes.Maybe some day,the heat generated by crypto mining will be used to create electricity and lower the electricity costs of the crypto mining farms.

I definitely have read about miners using the heat from mining so not my first time reading about something similar but yeah, way to go miners haha.

I mean, even in Southeast Asia in my hometown where the heat is problematic (because we have too much sun haha), they've found a way in some generator systems to distribute the heat to help in agriculture mainly (incubation, or fermentation, for example) so yeah, it's just finding a way to convert all that energy otherwise lost;)

utilizing energy sources from mining equipment and accompanied by chicken farming? I think he has a good initiative. yes I think that as a side, when the power is high and the level of the capacity of the device can be inserted several uses for raising livestock. although it sounds funny, but what it does is pretty good. is it possible that he will also dry clothes when it rains. an idea that was unthinkable before.

It is also possible to convert waste heat back to electrify with 20% efficiency (source from 2012 - most likely we have better technology now). But I never heard that someone ever done this with mining. Might have interesting results.

Honestly they do need a little bit of both, the strawberries in my yard only sprouts during the spring time when there is mild cold and continue to grow till summers. Honestly they do not need cold but rather a period of cold temperature most crop needs both seasons therefore I do believe that even if you feel weird with strawberries just pick another plant and you are good to go 🤣

In a country like Russia or Ukraine , the cost of heating is extremely high , around 100$ a month on good days and that too is very variable.

Well honestly I cannot think about the fact that it would generate so much pollution and then there will be the problem of storage always since here rain, cold , snow it's unexpected , it's spring but idk why god decide that it's time for snow again ! So even if you cover them up really well and put them in the shed the fungus will grow 1000%.

Plus again it's a very polluting method I would rather use the heating using gas.

wow such a innovation  Cool grow tomato and strawberry using heat i also hear about using miner heat as home heater   Cool

Not if we let the chicken dance around all around the mining equipment , they might as well they and poop on the equipment and it definitely more expensive. You can just seperate a space in the same room which in a way will give you security for wires for sure. Or can keep your mining equipment really at the top .

Honestly I have not yet tried it and I do not think I will , but this is from Canada which was done by a miner , the link of the article is at the end of the post.

People are finding innovative and creative ways by indulging themselves in technical improvement and it is one of the examples. You can earn profit from both the businesses at the same time with less cost.

Profit = Sale of strawberries + sale of eggs + sale of chicken + Getting mining rewards

If you are getting more profit with expenses remaining the same then what's the matter with increasing on your business. The countries which have high electricity cost can opt for such ideas and help themselves to increase their profits. As it is said "Necessity is mother of innovation" so it's best fit in this situation.

The cost of his crypto miner is about $1500, and it generates about 750watts of heat.
No offense , but 750 watts is not alot of heat to be spreading around in below 30 degrees Fahrenheit temps.
Claiming it is enough to supplement heat a outdoor chicken coop to near 70 degrees, keep a greenhouse with strawberries warm ,
and warm a house is a stretch of the imagination.
In contrast , I had a friend keep a small greenhouse above 32 degrees with a normal 1500 watt heater ($40) so he could grow tomatoes in winter.
If he mined 1 ethereum coin in a year that is about $1500 , it would cover the cost of the miner, and the 2nd year it could cover almost the electricity cost for the majority of the year.
I am having a problem believing this article, as it fits into the too good to be true.
If he is doing so great mining, why only winter, just place it out side with a roof and let the heat dissipate into the air and mine 2 ethereum instead of one during the year.
Sorry some thing about this article don't sit well with me, if a $1500 miner can earn $1500 every winter, why is not everyone already doing it all year long. His article also totally ignores the changes in difficultly almost monthly that make mining less profitable.
If he is telling the truth, then we should be mining all year , not just in winter, and find a way to send that waste heat to a water heater, as that is a year long excuse. But to be honest, their are so many holes in his story, I can't bring myself to believe him.

A realist account of how hard it is to be a PoW miner : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5316414.msg56501490#msg56501490

It's a sustainable development for sure.
When a lot of people look at sustainable development, its often in the parts related to humans and nature. Here is one that has everything to do with economy. I hear you can never go wrong with investing in foods and since, heat is a necessity for certain agricultural produce, utilizing the heat from mining farms to sustain other life forms is just the best thing to do. Else, why waste so much heat when you've still got to pay for it and should you be looking to getting a heat sources, your $ has got to be reading.

It's simple, you channel the heat same as it's done with buildings with a central AC and the heat is distributed to where necessary. Cool right!

It is also possible to convert waste heat back to electrify with 20% efficiency (source from 2012 - most likely we have better technology now). But I never heard that someone ever done this with mining. Might have interesting results.

Yeah, exactly. We're getting more and more creative now with energy conversion (especially with waste energy) and heat is probably among the easiest, just perhaps not usually so important to pursue where I come from. But if there really are huge mining farms being put up now and more to come, really don't see why it can't be put to good use. 20% efficiency is pretty incredible if you think about it. Probably not efficient or viable for small-scale rigs but those acres of farms I read about, sure why not, right?

That's a genius idea to use the heat that's produced by mining rigs to sustain the heat that's needed by their chicken. That's dual purpose and there's no waste into the heat because it's being used for another business that they have.
What a brilliant strategy to save up cost for producing heat for their other business so it's a win-win strategy. It's a good strategy to sustain one and the other business that the owner of those rigs has.

Thats a very useful idea in the mining Farms that were operated in cold countries, The heat that was generated by those mining machines can be used for other purposes as mentioned for growing strawberries like greenhouses, and for me that was awesome. But in hot countries like mine miners are using an Airconditioning system to cool the machines and because of the high Electricity rates in my country miners are using renewables like solar and wind power sources as alternatives.
