Hey! I wanted to try cpu mining on a vps to see if there was a coin that paid more than the vps costs. Anyone know a really good coin with low difficulty that is good for cpu mining? If so then  how would I setup the coin and mining software with a pool using only terminal on Ubuntu 13.04 (no gui). I know this is specific, but any input would be good.

Well the chances of that are slim. If you had started mining PTS at it's release and sold as soon as the first buyer showed up, you would have profited a lot.
The guides are mostly coin specific and can be found in this sub forum.

Alright will scour around, but do you know any that might be possible to make a profit from?

The current CPU coins that are best are XPM and PTS.
You could try mining them for a profit. Although I'd suggest keeping track of new releases and jumping onto an CPU coin as soon as it gets released.
