There's no law against it, so it's legally ok (if it's your computer, of course)

But you did not state what you actually want to achieve.
If your goal is to get rid of all the alt coins that you have collected, it's certainly ok (although saving the wallet.dat is optional then...)
If you have some other goal, it might not be the ideal way of doing it.

Yes, that's fine. I'd suggest making multiple back-ups of them though on a few different mediums.
