I've been shopping around for some time now for a new secondary web host for sites that need world class security and DDoS protection, and I'm wondering if anyone here has a recommendation. I have been a long-time satisfied customer of he.net

I would say that I'd send a BTC tip to people who post good information, especially if I end up using the host they recommend, but I'd rather see an honest discussion than have this turn into a spam-fest. I'll certainly be grateful for any info shared

While they can be frustrating at times ( any company can be ) I've found http://www.synwebhost.com/ to be reliable so far and much more knowledgeable than my previous host, they're also a lot more easy going about what you upload too, I was with FreeVirtualServers and they were a piss take, they still have their stupid icon on my website and I can't get it off, might need to ask support some time about that when I can be bothered. They also dealt with a DDOS attack awhile ago and even sent out an email to tell me about it when it happened so I knew what was going on.

Yeah, beginning to discover that now lol Tongue I think I'll need a new webhost that lets you upload anything soon.

For stuff that requires a lot of control over the OS and infrastructure I use http://www.liquidweb.com/ Support is good and fast.

For run of the mill sites that don't need anything special I find that CloudSites from http://www.rackspace.com/ have what I need. Support is pretty good.

If you want cheap CDN and super fast static page delivery I use http://aws.amazon.com/ Support, you'll have to pay for that.

Find web hosting servers closest to you. If you live in ny, find servers in ny, if you lovein Boston, find Boston servers etc.

Thanks for the advice everyone.    Smiley

That's really good advice, and what I ended up doing. I have set up servers with both Peer1 and Site5, which both have offices and datacenters in Vancouver, where we are based. So far both have been great with support, prices, and speed. I will update this thread with reviews of my experiences with them in case anyone is interested.
