I'd like to propose adding an option in the forum for visitors to donate their hashing power to an address used for promoting bitcoin, like for example contributing to the bitcoin faucet, or an open source bitcoin software development fund, which I describe here:  http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=25349.0

The forum has about 1,000 visitors at any given time. All of us can be helping bitcoin develop.

As someone who developed a web based bitcoin miner, let me tell you; it's just not worth it.

All that effort for what, like 2 bitcents a week (for the whole forum to share).... lol  Shocked

I think a GPU miner could generate a lot. The down-side is that only forum members that use Firefox and download WebCL could contribute. Even if it's limited to the much smaller number that would do this, I think the amount of bitcoin generated would be orders of magnitude greater than a browser-based CPU miner.

*Edit, I just realized 'web-based' miner is not the best terminology, so I've changed it to 'browser-based' to avoid confusion.
