The sun beat down at a blistering 120 degrees in the Helmand desert. The air was dry and tense as the two bitcoin entrepreneurs, Adam Locklin and yours truly, shook hands and made a deal in bitcoin.

Seems like a bold statement; however, I can't verify whether it's true or not...

The local phone that "couldn't talk" to the iphone... does that mean it isn't a smart phone?  Cuz we're only talking about qr code readers which should work anywhere, right?

I agree that bitcoin will shine mostly where smartphones are until systems like M-PESA integrate bitcoin into them & that takes off.

Has the M-PESA system been able to reduce fees by utlilizing bitcoin?  Even if only to like the system operators pockets?  I'd even take that as a win...

Coinbase for selling BTCs
Fold for spending BTCs

or Vircurex for trading alt cryptocurrencies like DOGEs
CoinNinja for exploring the blockchain.
