I used to use a full node with Mist for all my ETH transactions. Before it had never been more than around $0.30 to send larger amounts of ETH. I got back in to mining ETH and have had a difficult time getting a full node downloaded and synced.
I've tried syncing using the light client, which only connected to 1 peer but did sync. I tried sending .2 ETH and the gas fee was 1 ETH. So I couldn't send any. I then found out about My Ethereum Wallet online and have used it a few times since. But the average cost to send ETH has been about $3 in gas.
Is this because I am not working on a full node?
*Update: Ah, I guess it doesn't cost as much as I though using My Ethereum Wallet.
