I deleted my wallet.dat file -- wondering if an exchange I stored my coins on might have a backup so I can recover my coins?

I think you are confusing something.
The wallet.dat is a local file on your computer, exchanges usually have nothing to do with it.
I assume data recovery software would be the thing you need.

We need more details to offer a better help:
So you've send Bitcoins from an exchange to an software wallet on your PC (bitcoin-qt?), corrrect?
Why and how did you delete the wallet.dat?

as previously stated, are you sure the coins are in your local wallet?

Don't know your level of computer knowledge so first some basic stuff
- Have you checked the trashbin?
- Do you have a backup?

Other than that it'll take data recovery, try not to use the harddrive before recovery to increase the chance of success. Which OS do you have? I know some powerful stuff for Linux, but not much experience with window tools.

Do you expect us to list every possible thing when you don't even care to throw in a full sentence (and also ignoring all questions)?

From what I get the coins are most likely gone, but given the spare information you give us it's not really possible to tell.

To be blunt, you're screwed if there were a lot of coins in that wallet.
