Given a recent theft of over 40 of my bitcoins, I've decided to take security much more seriously for Bitcoin and all other areas of my life.  As somebody who uses a computer pretty much every waking hour, I'm still a newbie when it comes to this sort of thing.

Can somebody please explain to me, or point me to good resources, to develop (and remember) secure passwords in addition to any other security measures I should take?  I've done some searching through the forums, but I didn't find anything that really helped me with this.

Is something like https://lastpass.com/ a good idea?  Or do you have better suggestions on how I should manage my security for now on.

PS: Yes you can use something like lastpass but make sure to change your previous passwords.

Keep a notepad (preferably not in your computer) to help you remember all the passwords.

Example:

Site: bitcointalk
Username: User1
Password: blablabla

I like passwd safe, for windows, Linux, iOS, Android. Open source, well known. http://passwordsafe.sourceforge.net

http://arstechnica.com/security/2013/05/how-crackers-make-minced-meat-out-of-your-passwords/

That link might make you think twice about a short master password.

I like the idea of a simple password, hashed into a more complex one, like with this site: http://supergenpass.com, again with a very complex master password. Note that link is one of many, and it would be very simple to write a python script to do the same thing.
