My objective is to buy XRP-USD and I'm considering setting up an account with Bitstamp. Two questions:

(1) Does anyone have any opinions (good or bad) about Bitstamp? Security, ease of use, etc. (they certainly require a lot of info. about your identity (SS #, documents for proof of identity and separate documents for proof of residency, etc.);

(2) It appears that you can buy XRP-USD directly with USD on/through Bitstamp with a wire transfer, bank account or credit card number, but I'm not 100% certain (I'd certainly prefer a wire transfer rather than providing a bank account or credit card number even if Bitstamp has a high transaction fee for a wire transfer). Does anyone know for certain whether you can buy XRP-USD directly on/through Bitstamp?

Thanks in advance for any response.

just take a look at Bitstamp's Reddit first.
Avoid like the plague.

They have been holding my XRP's for nearly 3 weeks now. Same thing for a lot of people, many deposits or withdraws have been frozen.

You won't be able to register & verify, anyway.

In the very best case, they have been overloaded by the amount of new users (that they couldn't predict? Hard to believe). In the worst case.. Mt.Gox part deux...

Im also been waiting for about 1 MONTH to be verified lol, pretty slow service compared to all other exchanges I tried and customer support seems to be terrible so far.. but I still willing to give them a chance, they been one of those early exchanges to believe in all the crypto ecosytem.

ps. the only reason im would like to buy there is because rates are better than GDAX for europeans.

doesn't GDAX have pretty much free limit orders? On Bitstamp it's 0.25%, the highest of all exchanges.

I'm not even too complaining about those high fees, I was assuming that it'd make Bitstamp more reliable and would give me better support. And that wasn't the case AT ALL Sad
