problem getting erupter to start mining on bitminter

hi everyone!

im after some advice here if possible. i bought my self a 335mh/s erupter to give the mining a go, the problem is on the bitminter client v1.4.0 i cant seem to get the erupter to mine when i press start engine. but when i start the cpu, it starts the erupter up but i get nowhere near the 335mh/s i assume im supposed to. infact i get 9 and the cpu runs up to around 89 mark.

is this a driver issue? if it is could it have something to do with not been able to install the exe file from cp210x_vcp_windows? because when i tried to install the x64 file i get a message back saying couldnt beacuse its  not a valid win32 application.

any help here would be greatly appreciated.
