Electrum training video? Beginner's guide ?

As a complete newbie to cryptocurrency trading and using a soft-wallet, I opted (from online reviews) to try Electrum.

So far all I am trying to do is transfer a few mBTC which I purchased in BitPanda into my wallet.

I started trying to make sense of the documentation - and even this is totally confusing.
Lots of answers to questions, but no step-by-step guide "how to use Electrum to make a payment" and "how to use Electrum to receive a deposit".

Are there any tutorials on the basics?

Also is that anything which actually explains what all the hex numbers are and how/when/why I would use any of them?
I see for my receive transaction I have a "transaction id", one "input" hex number and two "output" hex numbers. When would I want to know them and then how to use them to do what?

I don't know if there's any.
But to receive bitcoins, you only need any one of your Electrum's bitcoin address (view address tab to display your addresses), or the one displayed on the "recieve" tab.
Electrum doesn't even have to be online while you're waiting for confirmations (transactions happen in the blockchain)

Make sure that the wallet you have chosen is the one that you wanted to receive the fund, and also not a "read only" wallet unless you have a spendable version of it. (you can make multiple wallet files in electrum).

Simple words: Those are terms used in digital currencies that utilize blockchain like Bitcoin, not limited to Electrum.
Those are basically "traces" of the transaction for you check if it was successfully sent (recorded in the Bitcoin blockchain).
You can check them in any blockexplorers like blockchain.info
P.S: blockchain.info isn't the "blockchain" it:s just a domain named like a boss.

I think you did not look good enough,because there are many good guides how to use Electrum.Whether you're looking for a tutorial or video just use some search engine or Youtube.The only problem that you can encounter is that many of this tutorials are for older version of Electrum,some things are changed in version 3.0.0 and above,but nothing drastically that can not be understood.

Electrum were designed to be user friendly when compared to full wallets, not sure why you don't full understand it features.

"how to use Electrum to make a payment"

Go to send tab, Input destination address, amount, description [Optional], and then set your Network Fee.
Just press send and input your password, and your transaction will appear both on Blockchain and your History for easy Book keeping.

"how to use Electrum to receive a deposit".

Go to receive tab and give your address to the person or website you'd like to receive your coin from.

Transaction ID are used as a proof that you have sent your coins to the recipients, think of it as a receipt.
You can either right clock on your transaction and press "View on Block Explorer" or copy its hex and paste it into Block Explorer Manually.

I have created a short tutorial on how to create a wallet using Electrum. It also includes basic information about sending and receiving payments. You won't find there as much information as in others, but I tried to keep it as simple as possible.

My advice is to use Electrum in cold storage mode, pretty much like an hardware wallet.

Basically you will need another PC that will never connect to the internet. It can be an old laptop from 2000 even.

You generate your wallet offline, keep your keys offline and only sign on the online computer.

It's a lot of work but provides max protection against viruses and malware.
