Decentralized Exchanges for Bitcoin trading

Has anyone had experience using decentralized trading exchanges such as Bitsquare?

This looks like the future to me but currently a lack of traders using these types of platform.

Spreads are so much more competitive (despite a lack of liquidity due to low trade volumes) than many centralised exchanges.

Interested on peoples thoughts as to why this type of service is not popular yet?
