Atm I'm kinda dissapointed. Well golden age of copy&paste coins has ended (hopefully).
Now I can see few major type of forks:

1. New algo coins
2. Specific usage coins
2b. Tribute coins
3. copy&paste with lil something added to QT

lets break these a little:
1. we have quite a few coins that has new algo for hashing. In my point of view as long as sha256/scrypt haven't been breaked, we are just fine with these. adding coin with rekzak/ryt37/gÅpÖ/awe230 hashing algo isn't any more secure than sha256/scrypt. Some ppl justify this with "cpu-only is fair". How fair it is to you if big money just buys big hashes from clouds ? or botnets does the job for free ? IMO GPU mining is the best, it requires little involvement, but not that much (visit the store, or gaming rig). ASICS are just poison, few vendors selling limited supplies, is this even decentralized anymore ?

2. IMO no future what-so-ever. Why would I want to pay with 6 different currencies if I buy: milk, gum, banana, bread, beer and cigs.
2b. oh well.....

3. Who gives a **** bout instant messaging or nice pictures. Coin is still essentially the same, it doesnt anyway exhail bitcoin/litecoin/anycoin as a currency.

in short, why release coin that doesnt bring anything thats fundamentally different? Those coins live, everything else dies. (IMO primecoin is prime example, even tho it has its weaknesess)

Also we must point our fingers towards exchanges, pretty much every coin is accepted. I mean come one, if the devs only commits are the initial one, changing cpl more 'novacoin' to 'foobarcoin' and adding pretty color to wallet? would you accept one, I wouldn't. Cryptsy still has hypercoin, coin that got totally stuck somewhere near block 20k, ppl can't even deposit or withdraw. maybe remove carbage, I would guess the money involved in carbage coins would be used in something actually usefull.
