I think the best altcoins in 2018 would be Ethereum, Neo, Verge, Waves and Powr.

I do not believe that anyone can be guaranteed to predict the 5 currencies that will rise in price in 2018. For me there are two main currency is a bitcoin and Ethereum. In these currencies I keep my savings. All the rest of the coins I use only for speculation. I quickly buy and quickly sell any coins that I bring income at the moment. To store savings in them I'm afraid.

Look at the market now. It is full of red and ethereum is the only one trying to survive it.
Still playing at $1k dollars and up.
I dont think they can take it down easily with so much investors under it.
It will be pumped more this year or the next one.
