Hello,

I have been mining bitcoins alt coins using GPU rig. Recently I have decided in buying 5 Bitcoin erupter Blades. The current difficulty is around 50810339.0483, so I'm wondering if it's worth the investment?
Are there any other miners worth buying. I looking to spend around 50BTC.

Thank you all for all the posts and all the knowledge sharing.... Keep it up and I'll try to jump in too as I can...

Very risky, 1 year+ return on investment

You can try your luck with one of the other ones...

You will never get your investment back. Im afraid they are just a toy to play around with.

I purchase 100 of them, I pay 35 each which is cheap and I regret it now  Embarrassed

The first one I got I pay 75 for it late last month and be running for a month now and its only made BTC0.06  Embarrassed

to make a profit probably not for a hobby sure. I bought usb asicminers and intend to use it more of a hobby and make at least a portion of my money back.

I agree that if you want to experiment, stick with USB Erupters.  I just bought one on Ebay for about $45 delivered.  It's good to experiment with.  It won't be profitable to mine with it, but it does gives me some hardware to tinker with.

I doubt you would even recover the cost of Blades, much less make a profit, and they would make for an expensive hobby.

I might buy a few more USB Erupters if the price drops a bunch, but even then it would be because of my interest in software and not because it would be a good investment.

I made my usb eriptor investment back mining sha256 altcoins and selling them for

Mining bitcoins directly is not worth it.

I joined here 3 months ago with a bee in my bonnet about overpriced block erupters, which were 2 BTC at the time. Told everybody that would listen (and quite a few who wouldn't) thay they were overpriced and would never make back the investment (with links to calculators). They are less than 0.5 BTC now, and still overpriced for the ROI expected. In another couple of months the ROI will be less than the manufacturing cost (I've seen $7 quoted as marginal cost of manufacture). Then what?

So, no, not worth buying an erupter, or any of the pre-order asic miners. Its a classic Californian Gold Rush. There is no money to be made as everyone is chasing the same return (3600BTC/day), and fools are piling in to buy the "shovels".

[/rant off] glad to be of service.
