I'm not 100% sure on the mother board I'll be using (it depends on a forum member, actually) but it will have a 1151 socket.
So, I have two questions:
- how can I be sure it's the first version (for Skylake and Kaby Lake CPUs) and not the second one?
- some people mine CryptoNight with their CPUs. Which would be the best bang for buck?
1. Check out this wiki page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_1151 The motherboard will probably have the chipset name in its model number (z170, b250, etc). Compare that with these charts and it will tell you what processors its compatible with.
2. Either Electroneum or Intense. It will be one of those 2 when you start mining
3. There is more than one Onda board (I know of one that doesn't come with a CPU) but I think the one you are referring to comes with a Celeron J1800
