Is there any connection between bitcoin price & other crypto currencies price?

I observe crypto currency world from last few months. I'm learning lots of important staff here but I don't understand the connection between bitcoin price & other crypto currencies price. When bitcoin price goes up then others currencies price also grows to up, when bitcoin price goes down then others currencies price also goes down. So my question is what is the connections between them in this regard?
