Problems updating to latest BTC-QT wallet.

I'm running windows 7 (yes, I know -so sad for me)

I have a much older version of Bitcoin QT wallet. 0.5.0.1

I have the wallet.dat file.

Can I just upload the latest version of Bitcoin QT and replace the wallet.dat file with the old one?

Yes, just replace the wallet.dat file...

I was nervous about upgrading but installing the newer version didn't seem to replace my private keyfile (wallet.dat).

But you can never be too careful.
