Is it possible to use some form of data from human genes as a unique address (like a personal BTC address, or a seed to generate one), for purposes such as voting, etc? Are a persons genes unique? Is it even easy to make a device that extracts such info from a person? How about fingerprints or eyes?  Smiley

The last thing you want is any kind of personal information actually tied to your bitcoin address. One of bitcoin's advantages and one of the main reasons I like bitcoin is it being pseudo-anonymous(anonymous to a certain extent); so I think we should take advantage of it.

Well, agreed, but you cannot "choose your preferred address" to be similar to your gene. But you can use your gene as a seed that generates some bitcoin address (tied to it). You can use it as your private key!

It won't work well. You could make a unique public key from DNA (though identical twins will have problems), but you won't be able to derive the private key from that. You could use DNA as the private key, but it would be easy for anyone to get your private key.

A better solution might be to use DNA as an identity, but require a separate key pair to prevent imposters.

Sounds kind of along the lines of Zenome.   Its a little different but they are offering BTC for your DNA.

It's an interesting idea.

Whole world is already working on designing DNA Bar Code for every individual. They are trying to make a chip in which they will store a complete Genomic information( All genes data) of an individual. Obviously it will be unique for everyone.

But they are thinking in terms of Medication and other information of a person. Because once your genome is sequenced, you will get detail of every gene. By this information you will be able to know which medicine will be suitable for you and which medicine is not suitable for you. Some people have done their genome sequenced. Initially it was very expensive. Launched by the name of Human Genome Project and completed in 2003. At that time it's cost was in Million Dollars but now a days it's near to 1000 to 5000 dollars.

But I think you are the first one to think in term of BTC or blockchain address. I think it can be used once developed completely. There should be an ICO on this project as well
