SHIFT decentralized web (Web 3.0) discussion

Dear community,

Decentralized internet is going to be the future, there‘s no doubt about it!
What are your thoughts on decentralized Internet and Shift, which in my eyes is the best project out there when it comes to Web 3.0 since they already have a working product and and their website is fully hosted, replicated, and monitored through Shift’s IPFS cluster. This is a historic achievement for internet freedom ! What are your thoughts ?

For me SHIFT is a totally undervalued project because never before have they done marketing, they focused only on development! off a marketing campaign is planned early February, for a period of 6 months, the price is totally underrated by the fault of Bittrex style trading platforms do not allow the purchase of this piece. It must appear on new exchanges to explode; and when people realize that this piece is the future with advanced technology this one will be known by everyone !! because it is superior in all respects than it can do it better !! I predict a price over $ 100 within 6 MONTHS !!!!

I agree with @DarkPao. Totally undervalued project for 2018.

IMO SHIFT will explode in 3-6 months and will bring us a decent profit. My price prediction is over $40 for Mid 2018

i agree with you guys ! One of the reasons why shift is still flying under the radar is because they are only releasing a written whitepaper now at the end of this month, which will attract big investors and investors in generell! This will propably be the last time you will see shift under 10$!

If been in this game long enough to know that at some point people will become aware of such a gamechanging project ! it’s just mind blowing sometimes that people don‘t see a great opportunity when it’s right in front of them!

Shift has not done any marketing until now.

It is only available on Livecoin and Bittrex and as we all know, Livecoin has very low volume for everything.

Bittrex is not taking any new registrations, so it is not helping Shift.

New exchanges will come, everything just takes time !
There’s enough volume on bittrex though already. As you can see shift is gaining momentum and flying past the 10$ mark

lol i bought shift 10 days ago at 11$ and it stopped growing, every thing i buy stops growing . i'm looking at shift since this summer when it was 1,5$ and it growed costantily without pumps and speculation, it's a nice project that i would like to see skyrocket in 2018

I'm observing Shift and consider it very interesting.

I have a question for Shift experts: I've looked at the whitepaper and the FAQ, but I don't understand how exactly the Shift DNS works. Supposedly, a publisher has to provide a CNAME entry to be able to be found by a reader who accesses Shift with a browser. But a CNAME entry points to another domain. In the whitepaper it is clarified that it points to a "gateway":

In  order  for  a  new  site  to  join  the  system,  that  operator  must  provide  a  CNAME  record  for
their domain which is pointed at the gateway.  In the event an operator does not want to use the
gateway, the operator can create DNS records pointing to their own gateway.  The data will still
be delivered from the cluster, but the site will lose some of the benefits of the Phantom gateway,
mainly the guarantee that all healthy nodes that are available for serving are utilized.

Does that mean that the "Phantom Gateway" is a single point of failure? Who is running it? Can there be multiple "Phantom Gateways"? But if that is true, how to point to multiple Phantom Gateways via CNAME entries - wouldn't have the publisher then provide a new CNAME entry each time a new Phantom Gateway appears?

PS: I consider this an "Altcoin Discussion" topic, not a Speculation topic ...
