One of the first serious issues you need to know when entering the virtual money market.

There are many people who set their password as simple as 123456, 111111, tencuaban, even abcdxyz ... just 10s you will lose your password immediately. Do not ask why you can not login to your Bitcoin account, or your wallet.

Be careful and protect your password in the following ways:

Set passwords longer than 10 characters
Set a password with the character "WRITE"
Set password with special character "! @ ## $% ^ & (()"
Set password with number "1234567890"
For example: T0IDATP @ WORDdongianlam, Password0lapassw0rd, PasswordNumber # 1 ... ..

With such passwords you have limited access to your account!

You forgot also about :

Always install best update of Antivirus and use them - i recommend the top ones like Kaspersky Nod32 and etc
Pay for that dont use free ones.

Always use firewall and keep ur pc clear.
Dont go to unknown links and reply to ppl u didnot known.

Oh and you can lower your chances of getting hacked by not owning a Windows computer too . Sadly I own one at the moment and I am constantly worried about hacks and viruses, not a nice feeling to have when working and on computer all day .

if you make the password sometimes the number 1-9 sometimes date of birth

if only people started using a bitcoin wallets 'sign message' feature

EG
using your bitcoin wallet and a specific bitcoin address. put in your secretword as a message, sign it whereby the signature becomes the password you would use online
that way no one knows the privkey. or the actual secretword(message) in someones head. and only the signature is used as the online password

this way. if you can only remember a secretword such as

Pa$$w0rd3d

then to have unique passwords that are different per site you only need to remember
Pa$$w0rd3d  + website name

EG
when setting a password for bitcointalk, you use your wallet and a certain bitcoin address to sign the message
Pa$$w0rd3dbitcointalk
sign it.
and paste the signature as your bitcointalk password

then when you want to set up a gmail password
Pa$$w0rd3dgmail
sign it.
and paste the signature as your gmail password

the password created via the signatures would all be different because the website name 'salts' the secretword and no one will know that all you have to physically remember is Pa$$w0rd3d  +website name because all they see is a bunch of gobledegoop of characters

I read about the time it requires for a computer program to crack a password and the ones that contain a single word or a single word with a number (a word that can be found in a dictionary) are brute forced within minutes. Each additional word makes the process last longer, adding capital letters or special signs makes it even longer and so on.
The hint to making a good password was to make it a non existing word that includes capital letters and numbers or making it at least 3 random words added together.
For instance something like "MyDogsNameIsXXX" would be fairly hard to bruteforce or guess but easy to remember.

Strangely I think there are being you password cracking techniques we are able to guess peoples password so I will suggest always use meaningless passwords like take some letters from random song and mix them with some numbers and symbols that will make a fully protected password because this type of passwords are not related to dictionary and are impossible to guess. Of course, you can improve your security more by getting the best anti-virus and not using a Windows PC. But still any type of password can be cracked if the hacker wants and as because the quantum computers in coming so we need some new ways to protect our passwords.

That is indeed a real threat to the holders who are new in the business they should be made realized about these problems and have a more secured wallets which should support maybe 2FA security.
I have my funds secured in a wallet supporting 2FA. It really makes me feel a bit more secured.
Random passwords should be more preferred and the sign message function of some wallets are a one time effort for better security.

Apart from passwords, people should also set 2FA security for their wallets because it really helps to protect their bitcoins from hackers incase they are able to get the passwords to their wallets.

The best way to protect your bitcoins would be to store it in an offline storage.

If you have the funds, buy a Hardware wallet( for an example, ledger), it is very comfort for using, has a very friendly UI,and it's very safe for using( it keeps the private keys offline, so there is actually 0 chance of someone to steal your funds).
If you don't have the funds, I would recommend to use a paper wallet as an offline storage.
All you need to do is to print one, make sure that you print it from an offline computer, and then transfer the funds to the paper wallet.
Actually zero chance of losing the funds to fraud.

That's a good idea. It means that you don't have to remember or even store any passwords. Unfortunately, signatures are too long to be used as a password for many sites, and some sites require special characters and some don't allow them.

Also, simply signing the site's URL is sufficient, but I suppose including a secret word would protect against a compromised private key. I would also include the user name in order to allow for multiple accounts on the same site.

It's just above average. My passwords are a combination of various characters, mixed with numbers and capital letters, mixed with nonsense words, and then mixed with some basic math combinations like 100+245is345. I have to write everything on a piece of paper because it's obviously too difficult to remember for my simple brain. I know I could use password managers and whatnot, but I am too paranoid to have anything of importance being kept 'secured' by whatever app. I'm an oldschool pen and paper dude in that regard. It just gives me that peace of mind knowing that my passwords are stored safely offline.

You can also use this type of password protection, how to write it to a different keyboard layout. For example, the word "PASSWORD" in Russian will look like "ЗФЫЫЦЩКB" As it seems to me, in this way, too, you can protect yourself from hackers.

i think OS didn't related to it, except if you often to download some software without scanning it first, download a wallet just for a free coins or even trying to mine using a malicious software.
all the time i use windows, and i don't have any problem with security, still chill and safe
