Local entrepreneur, Jack Hurley was prompted to create the ‘strayacoin’ after being caught one too many times in a late night round of Bundy Rum cans at the pub with a mate who had ‘long pockets and short arms’.

Hurley recalled the incident by saying that his mate had an aversion to carrying cash and had an ‘unhealthy reliance’ on pub ATMs being functional. “As a result, I’m always the guy buying double shouts. It’s bullshit and I had to do something about it – I want to be fixed up straight away rather than being given a warm, out of date slab of Toohey’s New from his back fridge three weeks later!”

Hurley realized a solution was required which could be applied across a massive number of uniquely Australian finance problems. Fortunately, as the owner/CEO of one of Australia’s leading cyptocurrency development and start up labs, 47.com.au, Hurley could develop this solution faster than a rat up a drainpipe. Hence strayacoin was built. strayacoin is a fancy pants digital currency that enables Aussies to send bucks to anyone out yonder or OS, instantly and for next to nix. strayacoin uses peer-to-peer tech to get the job done with no central authority: managing transactions and issuing the strayacoin cryptocurrency is carried out by all members in the network.

Hurley was quick to point out that strayacoin has a range of uses. “I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve needed to use a strayacoin type of transaction. I know a bit about this crypto caper, and my mates are always ringing me up and saying’ ‘Jack, you need to build a strayacoin for this, or you need to build a ‘strayacoin for that.’ So the need was there, but in seeing the work of Aaron Tyler, the artistic genius behind ‘StrayaCash’, I knew where this needed to go. The collaboration with Aaron has been great and we think strayacoin will be hugely popular. As platforms like Facebook Marketplace explode locally, Hurley predicts strayacoin will be more popular than a snag at Bunning’s because transactions can become cashless and therefore much safer.

Hurley promised that using strayacoin meant that the days of waiting for your mate to pay-up for the backyard ‘cashie’ you did for him a month ago are now a thing of the past. Hurley closed by stating ‘we think Aussies are ready for this and are as toey as Roman sandals to start using the strayacoin. As a result, we’ve built strayacoin to have one coin for every Aussie, and of course the coins themselves are divisible into smaller units.

strayacoin launches on January 26th, Australia Day 2018,
