 I've heard MTGOX is on the decline as far as far as exchanges go, do you have any other recommendations?

Coinbase, Localbitcoins or Bitstamp.  Coinbase is convenient to buy only.  Once you have a few transactions with them under your belt, it gets easier, and instant.  I highly recommend a face to face buy or sell on Localbitcoins, even just for the experience.  Pick someone with good feedback.  I have never used Bitstamp but they have a good rep and seem to be taking over as the top exchange by volume.

Yeah, those are all good choices of exchange. Bitinstant used to be good but I'm not sure about them now

Less than 2 working days for deposits, and I heard that withdrawals were quick as well.

Yes, but difficult to cash in, cash out, and higher fees than bitstamp.
I would not recommend it, unless you want to deal with LTC.
