1月31日，中国外交部发言人华春莹就美国总统特朗普在国情咨文演讲中将中国作为“竞争对手”的言论表示，“中美拥有广泛而重要的共同利益，同时也存在一些分歧，但两国的共同利益远大于分歧。历史和现实都表明，合作是中美双方唯一正确的选择，共赢才能通向更好的未来。”她同时表示：“希望美方摒弃冷战思维和零和博弈的过时观念，正确看待中国和中美关系”。
