As we all know the merit points buzz is been growing stronger, litrally richer are growing richer and poorer getting poor because these guys with high merit points are simply making new accounts and meriting themselves instead of meriting new people and increase their enthusiasm and build determination towards forum and make them post more quaity posts, the administrators should do something, things been getting worse day by more, 10 people out of 100 are getting profitted here and the rest 90 are left in limelight, you guys know there is a loophole in this merit system and are facing the criticisation but arent ready to remove the loop holes, you people catching only few fradusters who are sending huge merit points and getting caught easily then what about those fradusters who are doing private sales of merit points? What about account farmers who have been rewarding merits in form of ones and twos and accumulating back and simply escaping from getting caught?

Merits are pretty much worthless once you get to Hero level. Of course, if you have a number of alts, or you are a campaign manager, then they can be used to increase rank for other accounts. But for a single Hero ( or above) account they don't really add very much.

Being a Sr. Member I'm not affected by the merit that I had, also being a Hero Member is excellent I can test the code in <glow>tag</glow>.

P.S @OP if that high rank member use the merit system to rank up their alt account it will be inevitable to discover such anomalies in the forum, and if I have an alt account I will not do it, because there's a chance that my account would be banned from community.

Which i think admins should take this seriously since they implemented the new system. It is inevitable for those who have a high ranked account to abuse the merit system for their alts.It is hard to track those merit salers also,i can't imagine how frustrating this things for the admins. If only people will be honest and have dedication for this small community then things would be fine.I'm still newbie but i have no issue with the new system nor complaints about it.This forum is a great place, its kind of a sad that those greedy people ruining it.

Do you have any evidence for your accusation? Feel free to check my Merit summary to see who I've given Merit to.

Why do you care so much about Merit?
Your second post after you joined (cropped):
what if i post quality content and still no one give me merit points thinking their points get exhausted? What if no one really gives me points because there are too many messages in the forum that no one ever recognized my comment?
Why don't you start writing quality posts, instead of starting with complaints about the Merit system?
This is a rhetorical question, it's very likely you joined the forum to join campaigns and earn money spamming the forum.

Your third post was post #866 on page 44 of a Spam Megathread:
Better invest entirely in etheirum because people have a strong belief that one day it shall take the place of bitcoin

Your fourth post was complaining about Merit again:
This merit system is meant only for big rank people and let them earn more from signature campaigns and selling merit points because many people wont grow in rank anymore because these merit points are specifically implemented for the sake of few people and the proof is given by you, merit system is a currupt thing now

Your fifth post is this topic, once again complaining about Merit.

The Merit system is doing exactly what it's designed to do:
First, most people complaining about merit are constantly posting garbage, and should not rank-up.

Why aren't all these low level accounts complaining of the loophole of just being able to buy an account to skip ranks (which you can still do - or is that too pricey for you)? Whatever system we put in place people will always be able to cheat or just buy their way around it. I think people are just so annoyed that they can't just easily spam their way through ranks anymore now and that's a good thing. People should be making merit-worthy posts anyway but of course that's too much effort when you got used to making any old crap to rank up and get paid. Instead of complaining I would either just A) Leave, or B) Get on with it and concentrate on actually contributing something of substance here and you will get that merit eventually and then there will be nothing to whine about.

You are right sir, higher rank i think it doesn't need a smerit as well, unfortunately for those members who are just begin for ranking up just like Jr. Member to Sr. Member and luckily for those higher rank like Hero to Legendary members they are not necessary to have that merit. Because Hero and Legendary members are the same when it comes profit in here. Roll Eyes

Well, we accepted this as a new challenged of us as a low rank here in forum just for the sake of our beloved forum to have a best quality post that's good for the eye of sewer.

As you can see who has merited who i think any obvious patterns will eventually present themselves and get noticed by other users or by an algorithm.

Also, while it may be a problem, without the merit system they could just rank up even easier and in greater numbers than they can now with the merit system in place.

As we all know the merit points buzz is been growing stronger, litrally richer are growing richer and poorer getting poor because these guys with high merit points are simply making new accounts and meriting themselves?

How many sMerits you think they got ? Maximum may be 100 based on their recent activity and rank. So they can make one alt account reach Full member status with these. And if they give all these points to that one account, they will be caught easily.

What about account farmers who have been rewarding merits in form of ones and twos and accumulating back and simply escaping from getting caught?

They will get their merits expired soon as well. Also, if you notice someone doing it frequently for low quality posts, report it.

As we all know the merit points buzz is been growing stronger, litrally richer are growing richer and poorer getting poor because these guys with high merit points are simply making new accounts and meriting themselves instead of meriting new people ...
this comes from someone who just registered 3 days ago and posted 3 of 5 posts complaining about merit
why would a newbie worry so much about merit so soon? just post normally and gain some merits along the way
by the time you reached Jr.Member you probably get enough merits to rank up to Member (provided you didn't spam your way up)
or you should just continue with your old account Wink, the way you speak doesn't sound like you're newbie on this forum

... you guys know there is a loophole in this merit system and are facing the criticisation but arent ready to remove the loop holes, you people catching only few fradusters who are sending huge merit points and getting caught easily then what about those fradusters who are doing private sales of merit points? What about account farmers who have been rewarding merits in form of ones and twos and accumulating back and simply escaping from getting caught?
instead of complaining, if you have an idea to improve the system feel free to share it
I'm pretty sure theymos would take it into consideration if it is sound and reasonable
also your positive ideas and contributions would give you a chance for some merits

richer are growing richer and poorer getting poor

Didn't like the idea tho because why the poorer are getting poor? Merit system is a new requirement for Ranks, and obviously only in signature bounty rank matters, so why the poor becomes poorer when they only need to do is post in the forum and get paid without releasing a single cent.
-
Although you're right in some cases that there are still some account farmers that wasn't caught at the moment due to many members here in bct forum and not all the DTs can monitor the merit given by others, really a tough job in maintaining a good forum.

I think what he means is that the poor posters ( ie. bad posters) are staying poor and not getting any rewards.

This is the reason for the introduction of the merit system.

How hard is this to game for a smart person ? He will give good posts as well before making the deal for merit points. Only solution to this is restricting merit points only in hands of merit sources and increasing their monthly spend limits.

OP can't write proper English, and everything is a big garbled runon sentence from him--no wonder he's complaining about how unfair the merit system is.

Another piece of evidence that it's working.  Yes, there are going to be abuses, but overall it's going to help.  So stop bitching about it.

Instead of complaining here is what you should do:

1) If you think someone is misusing the merit system, report him here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2823221.0.

2) If you see a higher rank member making useless posts or copied post , report him using the report to moderator options.

If we all work together, we can minimize the little loopholes left with the new system.

Yes, there are going to be abuses, but overall it's going to help.
A massive point you got there. Here's the thing, there's always (mostly maybe) an advantage and disadvantage to almost everything in the world so it's pointless to not do something because of some disadvatage(s). What we need to do is to weigh then judge accordingly. The merit system is great which will provide much more deeper meaning of the ranks in Bitcointalk. Aside from trust which are more like about DT members, we can see the general point of view regarding that user in merit system.

Merit system has made farming alts almost impossible. Person would need to be crazy, if s/he would jeopardize their high rank profile for low ranked one. Beacause they would be cough, and that is for sure.

Your accusations are led by an emotion, and you need to cool down and think for a moment before posting something. And if you have evidence of someone abusing Merit system, there is way for reporting that too.
