Hi all,

I could not find a concise summary of bitcoin-qt hardware requirements, thought it might be useful if I post my experience here:

I have bitcoin-qt 0.8.3, now 0.8.4, running in a 64bit linux virtual machine, on a single core of an AMD Athlon X2 2.8 GHz processor. As of Sep 2013, the program needs about 850 MB of physical memory. Downloading the complete blockchain took over night, was finished in the morning. I found it is not possible to download the blockchain on an old machine with 250 MB of memory as too much swapping occured.

Greetings,
xoyyox
