I believe there used to be a way to send a message though the blockchain though the default client,  is that still there?

I don't think that there has ever been a way to send a message "through the blockchain" through bitcoin-qt or any other standard client although perhaps it is possible to attach some extra data to a tx which then is discarded by the miners?

With CIYAM anyone can create 100% generated C++ web applications in literally minutes.

I think there's a way to do a custom send and attach a message to a transaction although I think miners are free to reject those.
