Buying a $6k DIY miner today! Suggestions? Researched since BTC=$1. 1st post!

I am a computer tech, programmer and electrical engineer. I have all the tools and skills required to design (using Eagle CAD) my own PCB boards and have a great fabricator who makes me VERY high quality boards for crazy prices, like $30 per board with 1 week turnaround! I am especially interested in a total DIY project from scratch. And, the Avalon ASIC chips are available right now so I hope to find a way doing this. Getting started THIS MONTH is critical due to difficulty increases. BTW, on what day does the difficulty increase?

The vague and lengthy shipping times of the commercial ones are the biggest drawback right now. So my question is, for around $6,000, what is the best open source/DIY schematics design available and where can I get the details? Also, anything I might be overlooking? TIA for all advise from this GREAT community!!!

This place is chock full of engineers, doctors, lawyers, scammers, investors..... did I mention scammers?
Anyway, there's much more hot air than results.  There are plenty of people who will convert avalon chips to miners for a song.
If you want to compete, figure a way to deliver  2TH miners that consume 1/2 watt per GH at less than $3 per GH by December. 
After you've collected tens of millions from people here (bitcoin only is recommended), everyone will hate you!  But what do you care?  You're rich! 
After about a year, you can admit defeat and refund in cash (which is now worth one tenth of what it was last year).

All true! But you totally misunderstand my goal here... I am not looking to start a business or sell these to anyone. I just want to get into Bitcoin mining myself and am looking for advice on the best approach to take with the $6k I have to invest in it. Seems like building one myself may be the quickest and cheapest method.... Or not...

I have been looking at building a Klondike, or some other Avalon ASIC related design. I am also looking at BitFury's stuff. They have a much better ASIC, it SAYS each one is 5GH but then a board with 16 is only 25GH??? Something doesn't add up there. And they want $500 for a blank PCB worth $50 at most?!
Are there any schematics available for an open source board based on Bitfury's ASIC? Or even a datasheet for the ASIC should tell me all I need to whip up my own in a few hours. From the looks of their $500, 16 chip board, it's about as simple as it gets. Has anyone attempted this or do all the open source schematics out there use Avalon chips?

With $6,000 to invest, maybe the best option would be to buy a commercial miner from HashFast, Cointerra or someone like that? TIA for all suggestions!

Not a real answer to your question, so ignore this if you don't want to hear it, but I'd just buy Bitcoin directly. Maybe average down the buying process because the market is so volatile.
