Hi everyone, just thought I'd post a bit about my Bitcoin experience.
I've been using Bitcoin with friends for the better part of a year. We mostly use it to pay each other back after splitting a restaurant bill! It's fun and always rewarding to hear to cash-register sounds on each others' phones - and of course watching the exchange rates fluctuate is of endless entertainment.
I've mostly been using the Android client - and the blockchain.info webapp on iOS. I'm a web developer and briefly toyed around with BitcoinJS - but could not get it to download the whole blockchain, which made it kind of pointless, so I gave up on that for now. Still curious if there are any other active Node.js
BTC projects out there
Anyways, yesterday I decided to install a desktop client. I initially opted for MultiBit, but didn't want to install Java on my machine, so went instead for the full Bitcoin-qt client, SPV be damned. I'm not too worried about disk space, and want to be able to watch the internals function, fiddle with the RPC.
So, it has been syncing with the network for a while. Almost through 2012 now, but still under 30% done. I'm watching the debug.log, which is great, but still I got bored, so I signed up for this forum!
Voila, that's my
BTC story so far. Looking forward to meeting everyone on the board.
Cheers!
