A bunch of us on Github have been posting over the past week about official my.electroneum.com wallets being hacked. Due to no real 2FA auth available, it's probably safe to assume that wallets are lacking in security and if you are using the official wallet, it is most likely safest to transfer it to an exchange that has 2FA available.

Add this to the fact that Electroneum team sent me and email on the same day saying my account was compromised, yet they still allowed the person to send all my ETN out of the wallet. That to me is super shady. If they could detect that my account was compromised, why would they lock it AFTER the funds were sent?

And another odd thing is in the wallet, it says transaction has failed, yet ETN is gone.  Their support is blaming our personal accounts from getting hacked of course.  I've invested in over 20 cryptos and only my ETN wallet got hacked. I'm sure the hackers would have emptied all my wallets if that was the case.

Anyways, just wanted to give everyone a warning to keep an eye out on your official ETN wallets and transfer out if you don't want to risk suffering the same consequences.

Very sad news of course, now I think that it is worth considering the services of this project in general, because if it happened once, then it can happen again. In any case, I think that there are no perfect systems.

This is very unfortunate, and from the description, looks like either some amount of callousness or shadiness going on with electroneum :-/ ... hope people are able to recover their asset.

You can read on this forum. It was known before start that Electreum is huge scam. I am sure Richard Ellis and all that helped him will stay behind bars for long time.

I am felling worried after seeing this news! I am also a ETN holder. I think they should add 2fa on their official wallet. Thanks for the information. I am going to move all of my coin.

This is very shady, I think you should talk the customer support team for you to know whether you can have it back is it says it was not a successful transaction, mabey they have your ETN and will give it to you when you have provided them the new Wallet address.
This thing happened to me also when ED was compromised an boom, all of my eth was gone when I tried to withdraw at that time, then I message and posted on their official twitter page to get help. Thank God it was given back but at two different wallets as I have two MEW and I used it to send eth back and fort, I think they have seen that it was mine as I am doing transactions with each other.
Hopefully you will get yours back again and make sure to install it on wallets that are more far safer with 2fa and other security related for accessing it.

I think we have to say good bye to our ETN.

I also unable to login my account, message comes your account is temporarily locked.
I tried to contact to support but in vain, no reply from support.

ETN was playing with us from start & now they whistle that GAME OVER.

ETN has failed me from the start,i am one of those people who bought the pre-ICO tokens and where hold for about two months that is unconsiderable they have some problems with their wallet from the past, and not they are doing it again. It looks like ETN has gone into a full time scam this time,if i were you i will pullout all of your investment to this coin because these developers are very inconsistent.

I hate these incompetitive developers because they cant handle their wallet development and security,i participated the pre-ICO of this coin and they have failed all of their investors because their wallet had some problems and they needed to hold our tokens for about 2months which its price has fallen below the ICO price which is why most of the people got rekt with this coin, stay away from this coin the developers are not good.

This is not a good development if it did happen exactly the way it was described by poster. I am one of the early supporters of Electroneum project and this sort of information is worrisome. Hope my holdings will be safe.

Well, I really am not surprised because clearly, from the very start of this project, I already smelled something fishy that I can clearly cannot shake off. Which is pretty unnatural of me since I always tend to look for good qualities more than how much I look for bad qualities. This may also be the reason why I never invested on it. Sad thing though is that a lot got fooled. This thing was obviously bound to happen. I just hope that the people supporting it realizes this soon enough before they get to the point where they regret their decisions.

But anyways, I really have got to say, it really does pay off to read a lot and asking a lot of questions to the developing team before spending a lot for any type of ICO out there. Although this is quite taxing and may not assure anyone to be able to avoid shitty projects, at least it does help a little in filtering the obvious scam ICOs.

Geez i am grateful i sold all of my ETN few months ago,i dont really impressed with the developers because theres a lot of problems from their wallet,i have joined their ICO and they have failed my expectations because our tokens were hold for about 2months and that is a big failure to most of the investors we couldnt get our investment back that time, really hope this would be lesson to use, never trust again the developers who are consistently failing.

Thanks for the warning , so it is better to keep it on an exchange rather then an official wallet . I see a big dump coming.

I would say at the moment yes.  Most wallets are safer than the exchanges, but when it's a web-only wallet that forces you to create a login, then it's about as safe as any other web service that allows username/password login.

And just an update, Electroneum support has stopped responding to my ticket.  So I'm assuming we're all out of luck unfortunately. Not going to invest into this coin again.

After the ICO they released the tokens to a small population, then delayed releasing to everyone else because they were supposedly doing security audits and making the wallets ultra secure.  That always seemed unusual to me that it took so long and provided an opportunity for a small number of people to be able to trade the tokens at a premium given the limited supply in the market.
