The issue about merits are spreading in this forum. My idea is to make possible solution in this issue and it is to conduct a survey where the respondents have different rank level.  I made telegram group and for those who are willing to participate in my survey, kindly join to my telegram group.
Link:  https://t.me/joinchat/HvaBRA-OSHJjxADj4fhi1Q

My research aims to know what is the problem within the merit system and to know the recommendation among the respondents

The results will be posted according to the level of participation of the respondents.  My target time frame to complete this is within 1 week. Your participation will be the key to enhace our community together.

For the people who wants to participate through reply, answer the following question:
1. Rank level
2. No. of years/months as member
3. Average no. of new topics produced per month.
4. Average no. of reply produced per month
5. Average no. of merits/merit received per month through reply.
6. Average no. of merits/merit received per month through post.
7. Average no. of sensible merit distributed within a month.
8. Recommendation

Thank you in advance to your participation 😊😊😊

I am not sure about your main objectives of the survey.

Not necessary. The forum and admin actually have it.
2. No. of years/months as member
3. Average no. of new topics produced per month.
4. Average no. of reply produced per month

It doesn't make sense. High-quality, valuable posts deserve tons of merits (hundreds, thousands) because those ones help lots of users in the forum answer their question or solve their problems. It should not have limited maximum merits each post/ reply can be earned.
5. Average no. of merits/merit received per month through reply.
6. Average no. of merits/merit received per month through post.

Need correction, Sendable merits, not sensible merits.
7. Average no. of sensible merit distributed within a month.

Simply how could a survey like this would derive a problem about the merit system.
I am pretty sure that most of the users here in the forum are still against the new system since it freezes many of the accounts especially for noobs that could not actually participate in campaigns they wanted. Leaving them with more issues about it.
Also, I don't think survey would be accurate because some of the users here in the forum might be alts. I just don't know how much of the whole population here in the forum is a single account user.

It isn't true that most members are aginst the merit system, As far as I can see it has made quite a difference to the quality of some of the boards,

Those who want a sig spamming job forum seem to be against it. Those who want a Bitcoin talk forum seem to be for it. If the  sig spammers continue to whinge because they can't pollute the forum as much, then they are likely to get their sigs pruned as I understand it.  Smiley

I think there is no problem about the existing system in our forum today but it's good to have a research how does individuals interact with it. The thing is, your research can be seen in many threads here in meta or other sections. The answers you needed are the topics created by some members this past few weeks, when the merit system launched.

The users who said that they hate this merit system, are the one who wants to aim higher rank for doing such bounties. They are irritated because some of them are shitposters who only think about their income and don't care about in our community. The two kinds of people in here are;

1. The one who really care about our forum &
2. the one who doesn't care about and thinks only money.

The no. 2 type of members are really affected about merit system so maybe i'll suggest to you to have a research about why people don't want merit system.

I am pretty sure that most of the users here in the forum are still against the new system......

I used to think the same but I have created a poll to check whether my thinking is right or wrong and guess what the result (so far) is totally different.

32.6% out of 43 participants voted for both Happy and sad. They agreed with, "Happy coz shit posters are not just posting for rank up and Sad coz  not all the good posts are not merited, limited merit source etc.".

I used to think everyone especially low-ranks are against the merit system coz it's really harder for them to rank up but after this servery (still i need to see more data though), I fairly believe that merit system is doing what it was here to do for the forum in the first place. You can see people are focusing on writing good contents. You can not actually blame the merit system. The forum members are abusing it both intentionally and unintentionally. I think as the days go, we will start seeing better impacts of merit system.

-Absolutely correct

...but it's good to have a research how does individuals interact with it.
- As the time goes we will automatically can figure out what to do. For the time being I think we are fine

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M

The problem with a new merit system are only those people who against it. Hey! this is just started a month ago, and we all know this forum is not perfect, no one is. But we have to take a little more time, and work more about this merit system, as I can see its working better now.
Check for this one out! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3024695.0

Polls are highly inaccurate because of heavy account farming. I actually laugh when someone cites a poll to advance their beliefs knowing all too well it is skewed and you pretty much wasted your time.

With that being said again it's the users who are taking disadvantages not the system. The system is here doing it's job. In a month we are seeing people are now more focused on how to spend more time on the forum and how to be creative on their writing. It's because of the merit system. The merit system is doing it's job just fine we need to think about how to apply it. Giving it to members and waiting for fair result is kind of day dreaming. Sometimes even good people (intentionally or unintentionally) in the forum using their merit to favour each others.
