As a long time fan of Bitcoin and all things space and astronomy I'm very interested in the connection of the two areas: blockchain tech and space.

Bitcoin is humankind's most popular payment network/global currency that is not owned or controlled by any single authority - a store of value that is trans-national, borderless, open source, irreversible, unfreezable, censorship-resistant, cryptographically secure.

Will we, the human race, take BTC and other blockchain tech with us in space? I'm sure we will. When we literally go to the moon, and to mars, etc., what role will Bitcoin serve? How do you imagine the future of currencies/cryptocurrencies in the era of advanced space tech, exploration, and travel?

Looking forward to stimulating discussions with you all!

Mate, may I know where you from? Is your mind on space? or is it just like a "SPACE" full of emptiness! What kind of post is this?

What use would bitcoin be in space? There's not any trade to be done so it's pointless. Maybe many years down the line when there are colonies on other planets or we have found new life it could be useful but I imagine that by then the technology would be obsolete and nothing more than a collectors item like many physical coins are today.

Bitcoin will remain relevant as long government do not stop the use of Bitcoin . It will be use until it is legally accepted as a currency on his own in every country. Bitcoin maybe down in price now but for the wise this is the best time to put in money because there will be massive gain when it goes up again. This is an opportunity to buy at cheaper rate.

Bitcoin is money. What good does money do you on the moon? Nobody has been there in 50 years!
Duct tape is much more useful in space than Bitcoin!

You can only use the bitcoin or every other cryptocurrency if you can access the internet so my response to you will be if from soace you can have the wifi connection from your local starbucks store then K think that can be arranged. OTHerwise I really think that when we accomplish space travel bringing with us our bitcoin or any other physical currency would be the least of our worries as we would all be excited or looking forward to new things and stuff and that includes our financial system

Blockstream Satellite is the world’s first service that already broadcasts real-time Bitcoin transactions and blocks from a group of satellites in space. With their service, everyone has free access to the Bitcoin network, in any corner of the world, including the people not currently connected to the Internet, due to lack of availability or affordability.

Hello. This is an extremely interesting topic and there's just so much to talk about. Unfortunately this post of yours doesn't add anything.

What good does money do you on the moon? Nobody has been there in 50 years!

Humanity is on its way to building structures in space.

Bitcoin is humankind's most popular payment network/global currency that is not owned or controlled by any single authority. It's a store of value that is trans-national, borderless, open source, irreversible, unfreezable, censorship-resistant, cryptographically secure.

Exchange of value is required on earth, and so it will be required in space - unless entirely new innovations replace the current financial systems.

Nah. First we need to get to space competently.

I'd say the best bet for blockchain integration with space is decentralized GPS or satellites.

The govt, Google, and other centralized bodies control satellites. And that's an uneven balance of power. So decentralized satellites would help solve that.

Why not. Bitcoin has a future. Let and not such as we imagine, but nevertheless. The evolution of the financial system has already moved. So this is also a kind of advanced technology.

Elon Musk is capable of doing that but be ready to get your pockets emptied for all these privileges in space. Just thin about how much investment will be required to set up infrastructure for internet there but if we plan to have colonies developed there, internet is kind of must.

Regarding taking bitcoins to space, I do not feel that we need anything separate there if internet is arranged. You can access the same wallets there as well. I do not see this being implemented in my lifetime so my children may enjoy  this.

I don't see any application of the bitcoin in space when there will be war against the aliens who will be super intelligent. Haha.

I think blockchain technology might be helpful in the space. We can use it to transmit the huge data over the longer distances in the coded form. This can help in outer space for fulfilling the mission needs that rely on the intelligent computers which might run on the blockchain tech later on. Where intended will be insufficient to run then blockchain might handle the extra load for us.

This might look like the Hollywood sci-fi movie but it is not. This could be true if government really starts understanding the operations of it. Anything can happen really.

We're in the 1st phase of absorbing bitcoin. Governments should regulate it as long we don't hate the system and support it all the way, Bitcoin will stay just like the internet era. It's not about things that we are ignoring, we will adopt bitcoin gradually it takes time. People should understand what technology is all about.

the answer to your question is a little futuristic and a bit science fictiony!

we can bring bitcoin as a currency to other planets as soon as we actually went to those planets and also we could colonize these planets! right now an astronaut going to outer space does not need a currency! they are not shopping up there to need it Cheesy
and i am sure by them the form of currency has already changed into crypto.

There is a FOMO brewing...

Space travel is supporting bitcoin payments. The Virgin Galactic was founded by renowned Bitcoin enthusiast Sir Richard Branson. The team has built its own spacecraft that can handle human space flight operations and small satellite launches.
As a forward-thinking company, Virgin Galaxy believes that using bitcoin as a space payment is a matter of course.
