Twitter is taking some baby steps to combat cryptocurrency scammers on its platform.

The company does not currently have an advertising policy relating to cryptocurrency and ICO related ads — which Facebook banned in January.

“We allow ads that don’t violate the Twitter Advertising rules,” was the response from a Twitter spokesman when we asked about its policy towards crypto and ICO ads.

Yes for now one can consider it as a warning unless if some big scam or something happens I think like facbook , twitter might even withdraw the ads being posted on their platform. But this all things would be a blow for the crypto lovers as social media nowdays play a vital role to reach to the people in any country.

While we should do everything in our power to stop all scams from victimizing people, implementing a blanket policy on a certain industry is not the best course of action. In any industry, there will always be scams and of course there are those legitimate and proven projects and programs which can be helpful. We should say no to scams but not at the expense of real projects or programs in the cryptocurrency sphere.

It's impossible to achieve something like that. If you look at all measures that were forced through thus far, it's safe to say that they will always affect legit minded projects and services. In other words, to combat something (illegal activity in this case) that doesn't even account for 1% of this market, we let the other 99% feel the negative consequences of that. It's unfair by nature, but that's how everything in life goes, so it doesn't only apply to crypto. That's why I somewhat like the currently conservative approach of Twitter in regards to scams and whatnot. I however believe that if they notice it isn't really doing much to combat scam, they will revert to measures similar to what Facebook did, which is a complete ad ban of anything related to crypto.

They will eventually be forced to do exactly that - halt all crypto-related ads. How do they propose to identify scammers in the cryptocurrency space? It is not easy to do that. Scammers will start saying that their projects are Twitter-certified, if their advertisements are not blocked by Twitter. Facebook went through exactly the same steps.

I did not open it, but as for the topic, it's always good to hear that they are doing something to protect their users. Plenty of scammers are on twitter, especially on exchanges and ICOs pages.

I saw in other news site that twitter are suspending and banning accounts who make deceptive claims in their posts. That is helpful, however, it can't totally stop the scammers especially because they could easily create another account. If twitter could take action before the post/ads will be seen by the public, that would be great.

Is twitter just doing what is right? that what others are thinking right now reading some post related to this moves. Yes it’s time that twitter makes some radical steps to stop such account with scamming intentions that also hurt the credibility of the management and twitter platform indirect but as a verified member it is. Integrity of one trusted social media platform rely on their policy.
