Gday all.. Old time visitor of this forum but first time poster  Grin

I recently purchased a blade asicminer V2 from china, opened up..setup power rail 12v 10A, properly tune the power supply so its supplying 12v constantly,  changed the fan into 2x big 8" ones, and setup the network address properly. I use bfgminer as stratum proxy, and it recognize the device presence over the network.. but the problem is .. neither the web interface nor bfgminer that it connected to, are showing that the device is hashing..

To add more pains.. the device seems to restart itself after 2 minutes, more or less

any idea why? should i open dispute with the seller asking for refund?

Here is the scrshot of interface config page and bfgminer.. on the screenshot it shows that the bfgminer connected to wemineltc, but the problem is not only with this pool.. but also to every known pool to me. if bfgminer debug mode is turned on, it shows that the device is asking for jobs but not delivering results ..  Huh

Your screenshot shows you connected to wemineltc.  You can't mine LTC with a blade.  The blade is an sha256 specific ASIC.  It does not do scrypt mining.

lol.. oh well that was just me thinking that "maybe its because bitcoin network traffic is so high i cannot get enough work" so i tried LTC.. the fact is I already tried every bitcoin pool out there and it didn't work.. heres the scrshot of the bfgminer connected to eligius, its just not hashing..or not delivering result..  Huh maybe its router problem blocking the device from delivering result?but i took all the firewall down from the router already..  Roll Eyes maybe i should buy an unmanaged hub..  Undecided

I'm not a network guru but, if you have a router and your pc (the server) and the blade are both connected to the router then I believe the gateway and the primary DNS should be the IP of the router, not the IP of your pc/server (assuming you are allowing the router to be the DNS server which is the default setting for routers "out of the box").  Most routers have a default IP of 192.168.1.1

On my blades I set the gateway and P-DNS to my router's IP and the server to the IP of my pc running bfgminer.

ty for this suggestion.. i tried it but to no avail, same thing.. no sign that the device is hashing  Sad  and it still restarting after receiving 300 jobs ... my router address is .240 and my pc is on .241
here's the scrshot ..

hmm... - are you using --http-port 8300 on the bfgminer commandline like you have the blade port set??  Silly question but, the bfgminer README.ASIC file example has port 8330 so if you did copy/paste of the example to your bfgminer startup file without changing it to match the blade then it wouldn't get any work.

Also, if you are using your eligius (or other pool) user:pass on the blade, try changing it to something unique to that blade.  For my blades I use blade1:x,blade1:x (needs to be entered twice on each blade like the ports and server) and then blade2:x and so on for each additional blade.

yes i set bfgminer to listen to port 8300 instead of 8330, the fact that bfgminer recognized the device as PXY0 confirms that the port setting is matched on both sides. i tried to use different user:pass on the blade setup, same results.. oh.. and i tried to set both blade and bfgminer to operate on port 8315 8325 8355 all to no avail **sigh

getting desperate now lol .. waiting for the supplier to answer my email Lips sealed

I never had any luck using BFGminer as a proxy. Have you tried the proxy tool on Slush's site? If not I'd say give that a shot. Otherwise, if you are receiving jobs but it's restarting it might be due to insufficient cooling. Make sure you are blasting air across these things, almost all my initial setup problems were due to insufficient cooling. Anything less than 2-3 good fans isn't gonna cool it enough to prevent restarts, and most house-fans don't have enough of a concentrated flow. You may have already covered cooling here, I only glanced at the thread, but if you have 3 fans on it running Slush's proxy it should work- but you'll need to change those port settings to 8332.

Edit: Also, the CoolerMaster Sickle fans 120mm push a strong quiet flow. Lastly, if you have a crossover cable and a laptop try connecting directly and bridging the network connections so the laptop shares it over WiFi. For some reason my router was giving me all types of problems, crossover cable to a laptop made everything immediately better, just wish it didn't take me so long to discover that...

Ty for replying,

now, i got problem with win32 version of slush' mining_proxy .. everytime i ran it, it returns something like err json blah blah .. (lol i didn't keep the software once i got the error .. trashbin it right away  Tongue ) .. now  .. to connect directly to computer host is something i need to try, ill buy a cross cable tomorrow.. and see how it turns out.. also if you say its mostly cooling related problems, i did put 2x 12cm fans (not coolermaster tho) with pwm maxed out to get maximum air flow.. but maybe i need to take out the heatsink and redo the thermal pasting process? also i might buy different power supply.. 20A max or 30A..

I wouldn't pull apart the heatsink. How are the fans configured? If you can hang the blade with zip ties, put one fan in and one out on the front, and then get a 140mm on the back. For my backplane I am pushing air in one direction right across them and it works fine. I'm not a pro on these fans but the "sickle flow"(?) are probably the best bet, all the other fans seem weak-sauce in comparison. Make sure in the blade config you are pointing the IP to the computer running the proxy, gateway should be router IP. If your computer running the proxy is not setup on a static IP it might have had the DHCP expire, double check the PC IP with ipconfig /all command. Also, I'd say just setup an account with Slush to test, especially with that proxy tool from his site because it's proven to work on my end. Make sure your login credentials match, put everything twice with a comma in the middle, etc etc. Also might be worth hitting "update/restart" and "switch server" on the blade UI. Once you have enough cooling it should work, one blade through my router was fine but connecting a switch with several caused problems. If the crossover cable doesn't work then I'm out of ideas... Hope it helps.

Edit: these fans are great, they have a "no LED" version which is what I went with: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103091
