I was browsing through some dogecoin faucets a while ago and was surprised to see how low the minimum transaction was. Usually with Bitcoin faucets, you need to wait several hours to a day or two in order to reach the minimum transaction limit (which is currently set at 5,430 satoshis). However, with Dogecoin, it's possible to send and receive amounts as small as 1-2 DOGE - currently worth about 50-100 satoshis.
Now according to
Bitinfocharts.com, Dogecoin's blockchain is about 1/4th the size of Bitcoin's. Bitcoin has been around for 6 years and Dogecoin has been around for 1.5 years so the fact that Dogecoin's blockchain has increased at a rate similar to Bitcoin despite having such a low anti-dust/transaction spam limit is quite surprising.
Does anyone know the reason for this? Is it simply due to less transactions happening per unit time because people aren't interested in spamming the network or is there some other factor at play here?
