ROMEO is a new

Telmatobius yuracare, the Sehuencas water frog, is a threatened species of telmatobid frog that occurs in montane rainforests, cloud forests and Yungas forest at altitudes of 2,000-3,000m asl in the eastern Andes of Bolivia in Chapare Province and Caballero Province (De la Riva 1994). It is an aquatic species, seen mostly at the bottom of streams and ponds, but also on the ground during rains. It breeds in water; the tadpole was described by De la Riva (1994). It is not known from exposed areas outside forest. Individuals are sticky when handled (Köhler 2000).
Many organizations around the globe have come together to
prevent Romeo’s extinction. The last known frog of this kind, Romeo, is living in captivity in Bolivia Bolivian Amphibian Initiative, led by a Scientist at Ghent University. He has gone to great lengths to find Romeo a partner by launching a series of expeditions into forested areas likely to harbor more of Romeo’s kind.
With the help of the environmental organization Global Wildlife Conservation and the dating service Match.com, the biologist hopes to raise USD $1,000,000 by May 1, 2018, to fund the expeditions to find Romeo a mate.
