I am wondering how these guys operate, how much margin they work on, what kind of funding it takes to try your hand at it, is it viable business model, is it possible for a newbie like me to start learning now. I have seen some bots out there, can anyone point me to best/decent bot and if there is any simulation environment for practice. Any help with this is appreciated. Would like to get some links or books for further reading. Thanks.

Do you mean you want to be a good trader? Good trader is have skill about technical analysis and can to manage their emotion, dont be greedy and keep discipline with trading plan. To be expert trader first step that we should be learn is technical analysis, and then money management and trading plan.

a market maker is what offers liquidity to the exchange by trading the spread making bids and offers at the same time and collecting the premium this means theres less slippage for the traders

Agreed. To start you dont need a lot of money but it becomes more risky with higher capital because higher spreads are on low volume coins. If you place bet and offer and someone will dump into you his coins you might have problem to sell them to someone else without dumping price lower. So i would try this with low bet.

Try to make 2% profit every day from your investment, I posted about my experience in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5048299.msg46755579#msg46755579
One tip that I can give you is don't trade with a coin with a history of low volume, always check that is not a pump and dump.

Money is power, and power loves money
