As far as I know there are no forex exchanges that exchange bitcoin for fiat. Why is that? Are there laws preventing them from trading bitcoin?

They only offer CFDs. You aren't trading actual BTC.

http://www.avatrade.com/trading-info/range-of-markets/bitcoin

"Trade Bitcoins CFDs at up to 5:1 leverage"
"Bitcoin market open 24 hours a day/5 days a week"
- lol. I bet that makes for some messy Mondays if people forget to close their trades.

and maybe they hedge and are into the market for actual btc.

They don't see it yet. For them it's just kids playing with virtual money. I believe they'll understand potential in this but it'll be too late.

A friend of mine who is working in a big bank (as a trader Grin) told me BTC shows on his currency exchange panel but he can't trade it for the moment...
He also told me BTC is currently tested on some big exchange platform at the moment but can't be used for trading at the moment.
