Technically they are available the moment you receive them. However, there are some clients that don't allow you to do that and you have to wait for confirmations.

Take a look at your address and click the transaction.

https://blockchain.info/address/<your address>

Most likely, the sender did not include a fee, which causes the transaction to be delayed.

miners are getting greedy FORCING people to pay fee's.

right now the 25bitcoin reward for 10 minutes average work is more then enough. the miners are getting greedy. transaction fee's shouldnt become manditory for a few decades yet.

miners are running the payment system for personal gain.

remember the whole advert for bitcoin a few years back
instant payments
totally free
no one governing/controlling your funds

now
delayed transactions due to mining pool protocol
fee's required to increase the 'chance' of being included sooner
governed by mining protocol change that are not in the best interest of the community.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

some users are greedy REFUSING to pay fees for the miner's work. It takes time to add a transaction during which the miner is idle. It does not take much time, so the fee can be small and is small (less than 10 USD cents).

Uhm, yes? Miners do what they do to make money. Why is that surprising?

They already have a 25BTC reward but they still want more from the transaction fees. Imagine you are sending a 0.0002 transaction and you are paying 0.0001 fees.
