Hi,

My old account here has been hacked, some Russian is now posting on it. The associated email address has changed (because when I use the forgot password, I don't get an email) yet strangely I don't have an email in my inbox saying that this has happened.

Who are the moderators here?

How can I sort this out?

Thanks

It's quite obvious as well because the account was posting in English in Jan 2017 then switches to Russian Oct 2017.

It's strange that I was still recieving emails from my Bitcointalk PM box in June 2017, haven't had any emails about password or email change on the account. Nobody has accessed my email address from any strange IPs either according to the logs, and my machine is clean and freshly reformatted so I don't get how this could have happened...

The account is called TingCoin.

Yeah I have read that post.

Problem is my PC has been changed / reformatted many times over throughout my time on this forum, and I don't keep large amounts of coins on a gaming machine (which is also the machine I interact with this forum with), and I have always emptied my addresses out and created new ones. I'm pretty sure I won't have the private keys to addresses I used in PMs (which would have been my personal wallet clients, not exchange accounts).

My only hope is finding a wallet address in my post history / PMs that is linked with some exchange account or something... The oldest BTC exchange (that is still online today) that I could find is VirWox, and I have access to this, but can't find any associated BTC address discussed here, only my PMs with the admin of VirWox back in the day.

Surely, seeing an account suddenly stop posting in English and change straight to Russian is a pretty big clue that it was hacked? This combined with the fact I have access to all the accounts talked about on this forum? It's really obvious the account changed hands in Oct 2017, and shouldn't be hard to see some new IP login and change the email somehow or whatever.

I want to be sure I have as much info as I can before PMing, but I'm almost certain I can't provide a private key to an old address...

Or you sold it. Without an address you're very likely out of luck of getting it back. Even users with signed messages aren't getting them back right now so you've got no chance without one.

This forum should seriously considering implementing 2FA. If 2FA was implemented, the number of hacked accounts would drop drastically.
