Everipedia Airdrop considerations for Exodus stored EOS

With the impending Everipedia airdrop, I've read that EOS tokens stored in Exodus wallet will not receive the airdrop and that MEW should be used instead. However, I have linked my Exodus ETH private key to MEW with MetaMask and I can see my EOS tokens there. I assume that I will receive the tokens given that this is the case but I'm confused why there is info suggesting that Exodus held EOS will not be counted... Anyone have insight on this?
