First off, this forum is awesome and extremely informative. I am totally new to bitcoin and I am very interested in investing in some BTC so I can watch it grow over time. I made a wallet and I feel I am ready to start earning some bitcoin. Any helpful tips about bitcoin or about obtaining bitcoin are extremely appreciated!

I highly suggest Bitcoin-qt. Most people go the easy way and make an online wallet (Blockchain.info or inputs.io) But Blockchain.info has had a lot of downtime when Ive needed it most (used to use it as a hot wallet when I was AFK) and inputs.io recently had a problem where API keys lead to stolen bitcoins. But It's your coins guard them the way you want.

(If you want the upmost security place them in a Armoury wallet. It uses bitcoin-qt but adds an extra layer of security.)

I started by begging all the faucets, and then using that for mini games like peerbet.
I suggest you do the same, don't spend too much time gambling, try and win up a bit of BTC.
Also, browse this forum for some giveaways, they always have a few Smiley
