Unable to underclock mem using Sapphire TRIXX

I guess my first question should be: Is is even possible to underclock the mem on a Radeon 6850 under Windows7 64bit ?

I'm using an ASUS EAH6850 (Radeon HD 6850) overclocked to 925 MHz core.

I've tried a few overclocking software so far but haven't been able to underclock the memory like other people in this thread claim to do:

My results so far:
ATI Overdrive => Memory clock slider starts at 1000 MHz so no underclock possible
ASUS Smartdoctor => By moving it down a bit at a time I found I could run the memory as slow as 825 MHz. Any slower and it would jump back to it's 1000MHz default.
Sapphire TRIXX => Allows a very good range of clocks but when I try to slow it down, it just stays at 1000 MHz. Overclocking the mem works though.

BTW I'm using the sensors tab in GPU-Z 0.5.4 to confirm my over/underclocks.

I would recommend using MSI Afterburner, it's great for win7 and you only have to edit the config file to let you do all the crazy memory underclock.

Here's the section you need to change in the MSIAfterburner.cfg file:

UnofficialOverclockingEULA   = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 2

I also was unable to use TRIXX or Overdrive, so I would suggest using MSIAfterburner.  Best of luck.

OK so I tried MSI afterburner so I thought I would update my results:

MSI Afterburner => Same as Smartdoctor. I could slow memory to 100 MHz under core, any slower and it would go back to 1000 MHz.
MSI Afterburner with edited .cfg => Actually sets the speed to whatever I set it too.

I would recommend to anyone that is going to try this to first set a conservative profile (like your card's defaults) and bind a hotkey to it.

During the course of underclocking the memory, I found many settings that would completely corrupt the rendering of the MSI AB window and in some cases the whole screen. Hitting a hotkey to revert it automatically is a lot quicker then closing and reopening AB or rebooting.

If anyone is interested, I'm now running my 6850 @ 925 / 305 using default voltage (1.157 V). As a result, my GPU temps dropped about 4^o C even with the fan spinning ~500 RPM slower. Guess I can try to bump my core frequency up again now.
