Seeing whats going on with Facebook and all the privacy issues, I was thinking doesnt this give cryptocurrencies a life line and a reason for people to use these digital currencies which also have third party supporting services like mixers to remain anonymous and I believe after this people will be more aware with their privacy options?

I think that slowly people are feed up with facebook and google and will slowly search and switch to alternatives. As it goes for cryptocurrencies, private coins by default should be number 1 priority or use of privacy features such as coinJoin etc. With mixers you still have to trust some entity for your coins, if privacy is not by default many people won't care of will think they are safe because of their lack of knowledge.

Like we didn't know facebook does this, they even do all kinds of other stuff behind the scenes like profiling you what you like, what type of person you are and all other things that should be private with national agencies such as NSA having full ace's to anyone's data. It should be concerning.

Why? Their measures are against ico advertisements not against crypto currency in general right?

And does the government want that?
For you to be private? For you to keep secrets from them? For you to hide your money so that you will not be filing it to your tax?

That should all be controlled by the government. It is a good thing for an average person but it is not for those who are claiming you should pay this kind of money if you have this large amount also. They wont let you be rich or the balance will be affected.

What is great about Bitcoin is the fact that is untraceable . That means that no one knows the real source of this money. Which present in itself a life line that gurantee the safety of the users . Which is really good.

All of the publicity surrounding facebook could be good for cryptocurrencies if it was spun in such a way. The main issue is that all of the reporting is still in a very centralized way and so they're not going to encourage people to seek more decentralized alternatives.
