Hello,

I read online that you only need to verify your Poloniex account if you need a withdrawal limit higher than $7000.  On my account, however, when I try to make a deposit it says that I need to verify my account.   Do I need to verify my account to make a deposit as well?

If I do need to verify my account could I use my Roane State community college ID card for the section that requires some form of ID?

Thanks,

Connor

There must undergo verification.
Without it you will not be able to put on Deposit. And also soon there will be limits, verification required in any case.Documents take a passport, a driver's license. There on the website painted in detail which documents and photos and how to send. Usually this process takes 3 days.

It seems like you've read something which was pretty old, as that information is outdated. Currently if you have an old account, (legacy), you can deposit/withdraw up to 2k$ a day, however this is going to change in the near future, and you'll need to verify your account with a passport or drivers license no matter what.

Because your account is new, you don't have the legacy status and this means you'll need to verify your account already, if you want to trade.

I believe the daily deposit/withdraw will then be ~25k$.

https://poloniex.com/press-releases/2017.12.27-Notice-to-legacy-account-holders/

Also, i'm not sure if your community card id would be sufficient. You might need something like your passport.

My Verification status is "Legacy" - limited to 2,000 USD.

I tried several times to verify for the next level. I keyed in all data, uploaded all ID photo etc. By now there was no information on the website (or in an email) like "Verification pending".
Is this normal?

I still see the form where I can key in my data. If I do so I am just getting the message "You must wait at least 3 days to re-verify your profile."

Yes this is normal. Give it time for them to verify the submitted information. I haven't done Poloniex's verification, but I did do Bittrex's. They managed to verify it within a matter of hours after sending in the proper documents. This hasn't been the story with everyone else though.

This is what Poloniex has on their signup page right now.

Due to several major exchanges closing their doors to new registrants, we are experiencing a surge in new sign-ups. In some cases, profile verifications may take up to several weeks. We thank you for your patience.

Mine has been pending now for 2 days..

Also you should note that if you need any support from them well you will be pretty much on your own. I sent them a support ticket a month ago to disable my 2FA because my phone broke and they just got around to me 3 days ago. Thats why im having to do all the verification stuff again..

Deposits and Withdraws went really smooth before the 2FA issue so im not worried about it other then the coins i have in there right now i cant trade until they approve my verification again..

So to list the notes again.

what they have on their signup page for verification times.

Help for Verification docs on what you can an cant use & also how you should submit them.

https://poloniex.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/1000250167-what-is-an-identity-id-verification-photo-

and again support is really really slow.

So just hang tight and it should all work out.

Hope This Helps Smiley

I am waiting now 11 days for Poloniex. With same documents on Bittrex took me 5 days of waiting.

Bittrex taking just five days of waiting is pretty much a very decent achievement. There are people waiting for weeks to hear anything back from Bittrex regarding their verification request, and in some extreme cases it takes even longer. I don't know how Bittrex is prioritizing their verification requests, but something is definitely wrong when one person needs to wait a few weeks, and the other just needs five days to get things done. I some times even think that they are prioritizing verification requests based on the location, which is a pretty bad way of doing business. It would basically mean that people from less wealthy economies have a lower priority than those who come from Western Europe for example. Mind telling where you come from?

Poloniex also has no choice but to comply with KYC/AML rules or else the government will come after them. In fact, the government can still come after them for listing ICO tokens which could be defined as unlicensed securities in some states in the US. Thats why they are being so careful.

I sent my documents for verification 3 months ago. Status is still pending. My ticket to support was closed after two months with no answer.

Incompetence of the precious main operators. Circle, the current owner of Poloniex, has started to look for new staff additions to improve its overall customer service experience, and that's definitely needed.

Not sure if you lost hope entirely or not, or already signed up elsewhere, but eventually things should improve over at Poloniex. It might be worth it to wait, because Poloniex as it is right now, is probably the most credible exchange.

The only thing I don't really see change any time soon, is the quite worrying and consistent drop in trading volumes. It seems that even Circle acquiring Poloniex didn't change anything. It's still dropping.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

I have no problem with verification on Poloniex. Very fast and easy. It was not long before the purchase of Poloniex. There are no problems with this. But the work of Poloniex support is very slow. It was noticeable that they were overloaded. Their answers began with an apology. On the last ticket I received no reply at all. The answer did not appear even after the deal with Circle. Poloniex exchange is good and proven. But support is their weakness, which limits the use of the exchange. I would like to change the situation with the answer to the questions.

I completely agree that support is the main weakness of poloniex.

But verification is still a big part of their problems as well. There have been delays in verification in customers getting verified, and it could take months before they actually get verified. And all that time, the funds are stuck in their account with no way of withdrawing it.

I guess a shitty support also contributes to that problem in that if something does go wrong, nobody can actually do anything about it in a timely manner. The circle buyout hasn''t resulted in any positive changes so far, hopefully this can change in the near future.

It seems to be random. A friend was verified in about a month. His wife who did the verification at the same time took over 3 months and several messages to support.
As others have said before, I hope circle will improve their support. (They can't make it worse)

You should feel lucky that they didn't allow you to deposit money because some exchanges they will allow you to deposit but only when you try to withdraw your funds they will ask your account to verify. So if that happens then your funds will be stuck in exchange for few months and if they don't verify your account then you will lose all your funds.

Support started to respond faster. But the answers do not solve the problems. Sometimes the impression is that the issues are not read carefully. But there is progress. Circle promises improvement.

You are right, but they seem to be much better than Bittrex at this point, who let their customers deposit and then suddenly denanded ID verifications and freeze funds. Poloniex notified, that they would give a certain date of ID vetifications for old legacy accounts in Quarter 1 2018. This didn't happen yet, so I think, they are still working on their technic of ID verification process.
